In the past 12 months, users have experienced 27 outages on Amazon, according to ToolTester – placing it in the top 20 websites in the US for most outages
Many Amazon.com, Inc services and applications that use Amazon Web Services (ASW) had an outage on Tuesday following application programming interface (API) problems – a set of protocols for building and integrating app software, Reuters said.
“We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-East-1 Region,” Amazon said in a report on its service health dashboard.
Amazon’s own website, plus Prime video, Disney Plus, delivery operations, Ring security cameras, mobile banking app Chime, dating app Tinder, IMDb, Duolingo, and Adele’s presale Las Vegas tickets were among those affected by the disruptions, according to the Washington Post and Downdetector.
The outage, which began late Tuesday afternoon, was partially resolved in a matter of hours – “with the network device issues resolved, we are now working towards recovery of any impaired services,” Amazon said.
Over 24,000 incidents were reported, said Downdetector, which tracks outages by gathering reports from sources including user-submitted errors on its own platform.
In the past 12 months, users have experienced 27 outages on Amazon, according to ToolTester – placing it in the top 20 websites in the US for most outages, said The Independent.
For example, in July, 38,000 Amazon users experienced disrupted online store services that lasted almost two hours.
